The Garden State Model Railway Club is an affordable and family-friendly, model train wonderland. With separate rooms for the quiet museum and the busier kids’ play area, it’s a must-visit destination for any train-loving family in or traveling through the Hudson Valley.
The museum has meticulously crafted miniature landscapes and intricate model trains chugging along the tracks. It’s pretty narrow so not great for anyone who’s not a fan of tight spaces or needs a stroller but the play area has seats and a bit more space.
It’s also not great for strollers but it has a shop and model sets at kids’ eye level. For a small donation, kids can play with train sets all day and conduct the model train sets.
It’s great for little ones who want to feel like they’re in their very own Thomas the Tank Engine episode! Plus, the club’s friendly members are always on hand to answer any questions and share their passion for all things locomotive. If you’re local, ask about their Scout program for kids.
